Welcome Reception

Join us at the end of the first exciting day of GLIA 2025 for our Welcome Reception, taking place in front of the Auditorium.

Unwind with a complimentary drink, connect with fellow attendees, and enjoy a relaxed atmosphere featuring live music by Pedacito de Son. Their repertoire blends traditional Cuban rhythms (Son, Boleros) with world music influences from the Middle East, Brazil, and beyond, setting the perfect tone for conversation and connection.

It’s the ideal opportunity to network, socialize, and celebrate the start of an inspiring congress.

Please note: Additional registration is required for organizational reasons.

Peripheral Glia Social Event

Attendees with an interest in peripheral glia are invited to a casual social gathering on Tuesday, 8 July, starting at 21:00, at The Black Stone, a nearby pub known for its friendly atmosphere.

This informal meetup provides an opportunity to connect with fellow researchers in a relaxed setting. Preferential prices on drinks and food will be available for GLIA participants, courtesy of the venue.

To help the organizer estimate attendance, please RSVP using the QR code provided in the flyer or with the following link.

Please note that this event is independently organized by a GLIA attendee and not part of the official congress program.

Social Glial Interactions After Sunset

After popular demand from the last GLIA meeting, we’re excited to bring back the Social Glial Interactions After Sunset for GLIA 2025!

As the sun sets over Marseille, let decreased sunlight trigger your social motility – La Cabane des Amis, a favorite local hotspot, will be the unofficial gathering place for relaxed, informal networking. Located right by the sea, it’s the perfect spot to wind down with fellow gliologists after a full day of science. The place is open from 6PM to 2AM.

As the location is well-loved by locals, early arrival is recommended to avoid a long queue. To help identify fellow attendees, participants are encouraged to wear their GLIA sticker, which can be picked up at the joint booth of the GLIA networks.

GLIA History Social

While cutting-edge results are presented everywhere at GLIA 2025, this year history comes in a new form: a glia history social event! The organisers will dig through 200 years of glia biology literature and present shocking, curious, unexpected, and mind-blowing facts that they share with all participants in an interactive visual quiz. The winning team will get a prize.

e.g. Did you know that the very first brain map was based on myelination? OR that Einstein had more astrocytes? Who were the first woman glia investigators?

If you are curious on whose shoulders you are standing on, join for an informal evening at Un Jardin en Ville (https://g.co/kgs/p71F2g2) located 22 Av. de Mazargues 5-10 min walk from the congress venue, starting at 8 pm. Be on time! – Savory snacks for all and drinks for the first 15 attendees will be provided by a generous sponsorship of ASNneuro journal.
